Mark Schwartz is currently President of PIRA Energy*. Among other responsibilities he oversees the development of PIRA’s longer-range energy outlook and oil supply, demand and pricing outlook. He is also responsible for the oversight of PIRA’s training programs. He joined PIRA as a Managing Director and head of the Scenario Planning Service in August of 2002.      

Prior to joining PIRA, Mark was Chief Economist of ExxonMobil Corporation. In that position he was responsible for developing ExxonMobil’s economic and energy outlook, the company’s energy price  forecasts, and company policy positions on a wide range of energy issues.  Before the ExxonMobil merger, Mark was the Corporate Economist at Exxon International Company. During earlier assignments over his 25 years with Exxon, he worked in Exxon’s International Natural Gas Marketing, Upstream Planning, Treasurers, and Corporate Planning functions. 

Mark is a member of the National Business Economic Issues Council and the Conference of Business Economists and a past board member of the US Association for Energy Economics.   He is also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
