Mark Mulcahy is Professor in Corporate Finance at Cork University Business School, University College Cork. Prof. Mulcahy is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a member of the CFA Institute and also holds an Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ) from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI). He is/has been the external examiner to the Cambridge Judge Business School, Ulster Business School, The School of Professional Finance (UCD) and Liverpool John Moores University.
His primary research interests are in corporate finance, valuation, corporate governance, earnings management, Islamic finance and private equity. He is published in international peer-reviewed journals including the British Accounting Review, Economics Letters, British Journal of Management, Pacific Basin Journal and Corporate Governance: An International Review, among others. Prior to joining UCC he held positions at Prudential Volpe Technology Group and Pacific Growth Equities in San Francisco and Investec in Dublin.
At Volpe and Pacific Growth he was a senior equity research analyst and was lead analyst in numerous initial public offerings and private equity transactions, raising in excess of $1.5 billion in capital for early stage and small/mid. cap. firms. He has been a consultant to Enterprise Equity Venture Capital as well as several national and international financial education companies including the Institute of Banking (IOB) and the Life Insurance Association (LIA).
