Biography

Mark Klopfer is a LEED accredited, registered landscape architect and architect with over twenty-five years of practice and academic experience. His interests lie at the interface of architecture and landscape, at the human scale of rooms and gardens to the urban scale of neighborhoods and cities. Allowing people to interpret and understand a contemporary landscape with its cultural and historic legacy is a primary intention in Mark’s work.

Mark is a Professor of Architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology, and has been a member of landscape and architecture design faculties at Harvard Graduate School of Design, Cornell University, and the Rhode Island School of Design. He was the 2000-2001 Prince Charitable Trusts Rome Prize winner at the American Academy in Rome. In 1990 he was the Second Prize winner of the Rotch Traveling Fellowship and traveled through Europe for three months.

Working internationally and with other cultures has been an enriching part of his career. Academically he has led study abroad programs in Japan, Italy, and Scandinavia, and through kmdg has worked on projects in Malaysia, China, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Belarus, and Panama.
