Mariano Batalla

Mariano Batalla represents multinational companies in corporate and compliance matters, M&A transactions and oversees legal aspects of due diligence, financing and development of large-scale real estate projects.

Drawing on his business expertise and training, Mariano combines design thinking and strategy consulting methodologies to cross-border transactions and corporate affairs.

He is an Officer of the Law Firm Management Committee of the International Bar Association and a Visiting Professor of Service Design and Entrepreneurship at INCAE Business School. Mariano is also a Founding Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers chapter in Costa Rica and a former instructor of innovation and entrepreneurship at Harvard University.

As part of his active citizenship leadership within the firm, he serves as Director of the Board of Fundación Paniamor and was board member at the Asociación de Vecinos de Barrio Escalante, a pioneering public-private partnership that earned the firm The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice and Latin Lawyer’s Leading Light recognition as a Pro Bono law firm leader in Costa Rica.

In 2016, Mariano was recognized by Costa Rica’s leading financial newspaper El Financiero, as one of 40 under 40 business leaders. He is a Fellow of StartingBloc and stars, and a member of the Costa Rican Bar Association.

He received his law degree, summa cum laude from the University of Costa Rica, where his graduation thesis Appraisal Rights: Its Limitations and Proposal for a New Business and Legal Model was approved with distinction and recommended for publication and undertook his graduate studies in business and professional service firms at Harvard University and Tufts Fletcher School.
