Biography
Margaret Tower is a senior instructor in the School of Accountancy & Management Information Systems. In administrative roles, she has served as the Career Center Liaison and Director of the Career Management curriculum for the school as well as a faculty Junior Achievement Liaison for the University. Professor Tower teaches introductory and intermediate level financial accounting, managerial accounting and career management, a course she developed with the university's career center and Campus Recruiting Professionals from the world's largest public accounting firms. She received her MBA from DePaul University.
Margaret was a senior manager at Arthur Andersen and Company for 10 years and then went to become a controller and chief financial officer for a Chicago-area manufacturing client for 10 years. She continues to remain active in the profession through consulting work, speaking at conferences and interactions with firms on behalf of DePaul's career management education program. Through her network Margaret has developed a mentoring program for accounting students that includes almost 200 accounting and finance professionals who serves as mentors for DePaul accounting students.
Margaret is an active volunteer particularly for organizations who have a mission to provide education and support to children in need of care. She and her husband were the 2012 Recipients of the Paul Buckholtz Award, given by Shelter Inc. for outstanding commitment to programs benefitting abused and neglected children. Margaret serves on the board of Shelter, Valley Lo Club and past chair of Loyola Academy Ramble, Guerin Prep High School and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Finance Councils. She is one of DePaul's faculty representatives with Junior Achievement, and each year Margaret involves over 200 DePaul students in service to this organization that promotes the value of obtaining an education and understanding business.
