Magnus Klofsten is a full professor and founding director of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Linköping University, Sweden.
Magnus is a visiting professor at CEU where he is teaching entrepreneurship for master and PhD students.
He is an internationally recognised scholar for his research on young and emerging firms; entrepreneurial intentions, academic entrepreneurship and the support of entrepreneurial processes.
Magnus is a pioneer in teaching and training entrepreneurship. He launched his first entrepreneurship course in 1993 and since then almost 5.000 undergraduate students have taken his entrepreneurship courses. He is since 2006 running “CDIO-entrepreneurship” that annually attracts over 200 technology and civil engineer students. His PhD course: “Entrepreneurship in Theory & Practice” has since it was launched attracted over 200 PhD students. His entrepreneurship-training programmes has resulted in more than 500 businesses spinning-out from the academy and many of those are today multimillion Euro businesses.
Over the years, he has founded or co-founded a number of research organizations such as the Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (1994-), Helix Centre of Excellence (2005–2015), AgoraLink (2008–2012), and the Helix Competence Centre (2017–). Independently, or together with others, I have applied for and received funding from the European Commission’s Targeted Socio-Economic Research (TSER) program, ECO-INNOVERA (EU); Marie Sklodowska Curie (EU), The Swedish Research Council; Formas and the Lundberg Foundation.
Since entering the research field in the late 1980s, I have built up a large international network of researchers; to date, I have worked in 44 countries.
He has over the years published extensively in scientific journals such as Small Business Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, Small Business Economics, International Small Business Journal, Academy of Entrepreneurship Journal, Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, R&D Management, Journal of Technology Transfer, Science and Public Policy, Regional Studies and European Planning Studies.
