Biography
Laurina Zhang joined Scheller in 2017. Prior to joining Scheller she served on the faculty at Ivey Business School, Western University.
Laurina''s research examines drivers of innovation and entrepreneurship. Her dissertation has received the Best Dissertation Prize at Academy of Management''s TIM division and has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and Management Science. Her research has received financial support from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)''s Innovation Policy working group and the Economics of Digitization and Copyright Initiative. She has presented her research at a variety of conferences and institutions including Columbia, Harvard, London Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the NBER Summer Institute, and Northwestern University''s Searle Roundtable on the Law & Economics of Digital Markets. Her work has been featured in various media outlets such as Forbes, PCMag, Billboard, Boing Boing, among others.
Laurina holds her Ph.D. from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Prior to her PhD, Laurina worked at the Bank of Canada.
Boston University
Laurina Zhang is an Assistant Professor in Strategy & Innovation at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. She is interested in the organizational and policy levers that affect inequality. Her work has examined how technology and information can affect innovative, entrepreneurial, and creative outcomes through democratization of access and participation for disadvantaged subgroups.
Her research has been published in journals such as Management Science and the Strategic Management Journal. Her research has received numerous awards, including the Best Dissertation Award at Academy of Management, the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship, and financial support from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)’s Innovation Policy and the Economics of Digitization working groups. Her work has been featured in various media outlets, such as Forbes, PCMag, Billboard, Boing Boing, and The Conversation. She has received numerous teaching awards including Elective Professor of the Year at Georgia Tech.
Prior to joining BU, she served on the faculty at Georgia Institute of Technology’s Scheller College of Business and Western University’s Ivey Business School. Laurina holds her Ph.D. from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Prior to her PhD, Laurina worked at the Bank of Canada.
