Biography

Imperial College London

Dr. Laura Martin-Sancho is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Infectious Disease at Imperial College London, UK. Her research is focused on understanding the functional interaction between RNA viruses and the host cell at the molecular level. Using high-throughput genetic screening, Dr. Martin-Sancho has elucidated interferon-dependent and independent cellular defense mechanisms that act to inhibit the replication of influenza A virus, SARS-CoV-2, and dengue virus. She is currently characterizing viral evasion mechanisms that antagonize these defenses, and whether these represent critical barriers for successful replication of zoonotic viruses.
