LaMoya Burks is a part of the Cohort 3 Doctoral Student with Texas A&M University – Texarkana. Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, Master Degree in Library and Information Science with Graduate Academic Certificates in Advanced Management in Library and Information Agencies and Digital Content Management LaMoya N. Burks is a native of Texarkana Texas. As an undergraduate she worked as an Intern for Mayor Tab Townsell of Conway, Arkansas. She has a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from TAMUT. She also has a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science with Graduate Academic Certificates in Advanced Management in Library and Information Agencies and Digital Content Management. She has participated in the UNT GSTEP program (Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Program) and UNT Course Design Institute. Currently, LaMoya Burks is a part of the Cohort 3 Doctoral Student with Texas A&M University – Texarkana. She was appointed as an Intern for the American Library Association for 2017-2019, Chair for District 5 (2017-2018) for the Texas Library Association, Black Caucus Committee Member and Chair Elect of the Community and University College Legislative Division. LaMoya works collaboratively 104 library professionals to develop skill and research through the Harvard Library Institute at Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts. She has also been selected to represent East Texas in the 2020 Tall Texan Leadership Institute.
She has served at Texarkana College as Director of Testing, Educational Specialist for TRIO with the Department of Education, and has been Texarkana College Orientation Speaker for Freshman Orientation. She currently serves as Head Academic Librarian, Adjunct Instructor, and Faculty Advisor. In 2014, she was nominated for Four States Living Magazine as " Fabulous 40 & under" in Texarkana, Texas. LaMoya is a member Junior League of Texarkana having served on the Board of Director, chairing several committees such as Mistletoe Fair, and will serve as Corresponding Secretary 2020-2021. She serves both the Pleasant Grove Independent School District Foundation Board and District of Innovation committee. She is also on the 2017 Susan G Komen Race for the Cure Committee and a Breastfeeding Mentor for the Bowie County Health Clinic in Texarkana Texas. LaMoya is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Kappa Xi Omega Chapter. She is the proud wife of Marion Burks Jr and the mother of Marion III and Reed.
