Biography
I joined the Department of Social Statistics as a lecturer in October 2017. My research interests centre on migration, social and spatial inequalities. Prior to my current role, I was a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre on Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) working on research examining the spatial patterns of ethnic inequalities, and a doctoral researcher at the Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research Methods (CMI), where I carried out research on dimensions of new immigration in England. I am co-ordinator of the Migration and Families Network which I co-founded in February 2017. Prior to this I was co-editor of the CoDE ''Dynamics of diversity: evidence from the 2011 Census’ Briefings series.
I have previously worked as a Research Officer at the Migration and Border Analysis (MBA) Unit in the Home Office Science Directorate as part of an ESRC internship and held a research post at the Centre for Urban Policy Studies (CUPS) working on projects for the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the North West Development Agency (NWDA). I hold an MSc in Social Research Methods and Statistics from the University of Manchester and an MSc in Economics from Birkbeck College, University of London. I received a PHD in Social Statistics from the University of Manchester in 2014.
