Kyle Murray is Acting Dean of the University of Alberta School of Business, Canada's first and longest accredited business school, recognized for its research excellence, academic program quality, graduate career success, and economic impact within Alberta and Canada.

Dr. Murray earned his BSc (Specialization Psychology, 1994) and Ph.D. (Marketing and Psychology, 2004) from the University of Alberta. He has been with the Alberta School of Business since 2008, serving as Vice Dean from 2017 to 2021 and as the Director of the School of Retailing from 2008 to 2017. Kyle has held faculty appointments at the Ivey School of Business (Canada) and Monash University (Australia), as well as visiting appointments at INSEAD (France) and TU Dublin (Ireland).

An expert in human decision-making, Kyle’s research interests focus on innovation and behaviour change challenges in business and society. He has published several books and dozens of peer-reviewed articles in leading journals in management, marketing, information systems and organizational behaviour. Kyle’s work has attracted millions in grant funding and his research and teaching have been recognized with a variety of awards, including the McCalla Professorship, Killam Professorship, Petro-Canada Young Innovators Award and the Mackenzie Teaching Award of Excellence.

As a consultant to government and Fortune 50 companies, Kyle has advised clients that include Air Miles, the Competition Bureau of Canada, Consumers Council of Canada, General Motors, Industry Canada, Johnson and Johnson, Leger, The Research Intelligence Group, and Microsoft. He has also been involved in a variety of start-ups, as an investor and advisor, in sectors ranging from financial services to retail and from advertising to cannabis.
