Kevin Houston

Dr. Kevin E. Houston is on staff at Mass. Eye and Ear in the Vision Rehabilitation Service and is the director of the Vision Rehabilitation Service at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston and Cape Cod. He examines patients with vision loss due to eye disease or neurological injury and provides special visual aids, prism glasses, and therapies to allow the highest possible level of visual function.

Dr. Houston received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University, and has previously held faculty and staff appointments at Indiana University School of Optometry, Indiana University School of Medicine department of Ophthalmology, and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana.

His current research aims to restore the normal perception of an expanded visual field for people with hemianopia, a type of vision loss resulting from stroke and brain injury. He is also developing and testing devices for eye lid paralysis and smartphone apps to measure and monitor strabismus and other binocular vision disorders common after brain injury.
