Biography
Kelley School of Business
I am a Lecturer in Communication, Professional, and Computer Skills at the Kelley School of Business, where I teach courses in business writing and communication. I am also a Faculty Fellow in Mosaic, Indiana University’s Active Learning Initiative, where I study active learning strategies and explore how to best incorporate them into the undergraduate writing classroom.
Before coming to Kelley, I taught literature, composition, and professional writing courses in the Department of English for six years. As an Associate Instructor, Teaching Fellow, and Assistant Coordinator for J101, I developed extensive experience in curriculum design, digital pedagogy, and course administration.
At Kelley, I draw on this liberal arts training to teach students how to communicate effectively in business situations. In my courses, students learn skills that they can carry with them beyond the classroom: critical thinking, strategic communication, and persuasive writing.
In 2017, I earned my PhD in English Literature from Indiana University’s Department of English. My dissertation drew on original archival research to examine the construction of race in U.S. literary modernism during the first U.S. military occupation of Haiti. I bring my advanced research and project management skills to my current work in research, teaching, and service. From creating innovative classroom learning experiences, to collaborating with my colleagues, to conducting and publishing new research, I am adept at managing long-term projects and consistently meeting deadlines.
