Biography

Kathryn D. Maza Courtney, Esq. practices in the firm’s Internal Investigations, Appellate and Post-Trial Advocacy, and Risk Mitigation and Safety groups. In this role, Katie assists in the representation of hospitals and healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases, and she assists in providing advice to hospitals, healthcare professionals, and corporations on litigation, appellate and risk mitigation issues, as well as event investigations and policy review.

Katie has a background in corporate law and previously worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Delaware as a corporate litigation associate, where she represented corporations and their directors and officers in acquisition-related litigation and other corporate and commercial disputes, as well as advised clients on transactional and corporate governance matters. She also clerked for the Honorable Kent A. Jordan at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Outside of the firm, Katie serves as a Trustee for the Gladwyne Free Public Library. She is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law.
