FAU School of Business and Economics
Kai-Ingo Voigt (born in 1960) studied business administration at the University of Hamburg from 1981 to 1986. He worked as a research associate at the University of Hamburg from 1986 until completing his doctoral degree in 1991, and was a research fellow there from 1991 to 1997. He completed his habilitation there in 1997. Professor Voigt has been Chair of Industrial Management at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) since 1998. He was dean of the School of Business and Economics from 2003 to 2005 and has also been a member of the Faculty of Engineering since 2006. He is a visiting professor at Tongji University, Shanghai, China, the University of Alcalá, Spain, and Babson College, USA. Furthermore, he was the first international researcher to be appointed as a visiting professor at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China. Professor Voigt is also chairman of the board of Erich-Gutenberg-Arbeitsgemeinschaft e.V. and the Research Institute for Co-operative Studies.
Professor Voigt’s research focuses on technology, innovation and idea management (with a focus on business model innovation), industrial value creation and industry 4.0 (with a focus on the automotive industry, mechanical engineering and systems engineering), and procurement, production and environmental management (sustainability in industry). He is also interested in cooperative studies and digitalization.
