Biography
UW Professional & Continuing Education
Professor K. B. Das has been teaching at the UW since 1978. He worked for Boeing for 24 years in materials and processes engineering and 16 years in QA organizations before retiring in February 2003. He has more than 40 years of research and development experience in high vacuum technology, rapid solidification rate powder metallurgical (RSR/PM) alloys, corrosion engineering, alloy development and characterization, atomic and molecular spectroscopy, defect structure and physics of metals and advanced composites.
He has written more than 70 publications in national and international journals and holds seven patents. Dr. Das has master’s degrees from Osmania University, Purdue University and the University of Illinois, where he studied electronics and modern physics, solid state physics and metallurgical engineering, respectively. He also has a Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Washington. He is a fellow of the American Society of Materials International (ASMI).
