Biography

Julián Cárdenas is researcher at the Latin American Institute, Freie Universität Berlin. His main fields of interest are networks, elites, social capital, and research methods such as network analysis, qualitative comparative analysis and multivariate data analysis. Julian Cardenas is the director of the DFG-research project “Why are corporate elites interconnected by cohesive networks in some countries, and not in others? Cross-national and transnational analysis of corporate elite networks in Latin America”.

Julian Cardenas received is PhD in Sociology from the University of Barcelona. He was assistant professor at the Universidad de Antioquia, lecturer professor at the University of Barcelona, and postdoctoral researcher at the IESE Business School.

Julian Cardenas’ forthcoming article is: “Are Latin America's corporate elites transnationally interconnected? A network analysis of interlocking directorates” about business elite networks in Latin America.

He writes the blog Networkianos about research methods and Sociology, and the blog Networks provide happiness about network analysis.
