Julia Spackman

Biography

Julia is a designer and educator from Los Angeles, currently in Brussels. She holds experience in every architectural stage of adaptive reuse projects, publication writing and research, exhibition illustration, and graduate level design instruction. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley's College of Environmental Design and is soon completing her Master in Architecture program at Harvard GSD. At Harvard she is a contributing editor of the student journal Pairs, an instructor for the Design Discovery program, Digital Fabrication specialist, consults undergraduates on built proposals with student group WhereverGSD, and mentors young women interested in design. In her own work, she uses architectural tools to investigate complex conditions and propose rigorous, optimistic responses.
