Biography

School of Continuing Studies

Joyce Bader’s work-life and leadership roles have always focused on developing creative, sustainable and equitable organizations and communities. In her earliest position, as co-founder and leader of one of the nation’s first environmental organizations, and in nearly 30 years as principal of Joyce Bader Consulting, Joyce has strived to exemplify these values. As a result, Joyce Bader Consulting’s services can be fine-tuned or broad—offering progress on leadership insight and development; system strategy and structure; and interpersonal, team and intergroup relationships.

Joyce is a multidisciplinary thinker who applies her extensive studies of management and leadership, ecology, literature, psychology and spirituality to her life and work. She has a B.A. from the University of Michigan, an M.S.O.D. from American University, and has served on the adjunct faculty of Georgetown University and Antioch University and on the staff of the University of Maine. She is a co-editor of The Emotional Side of Organizations, a publication of the Georgetown Family Center, and the author of Re-thinking the Consultant’s Role.

Joyce’s consultation work has allowed her to contribute to many of the nation’s top companies, professional and trade associations, public agencies and nonprofit organizations, including the American Bar Association, L.L. Bean, the National Retail Federation, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the State Department.
