Biography

Joseph Cozza is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Government studying comparative public law. His research interests include constitutional drafting and design, comparative courts and judicial systems, referendum processes, and party politics. He is particularly interested in examining how and when citizen participation and deliberation can enhance the legitimacy of democratic outcomes, especially in the constitutional arena. While at the University of Texas, Joseph has taught undergraduate classes in comparative constitutionalism, comparative judicial politics, and American government.
Before entering academia, Joseph worked as a policy advisor in the Delaware State Senate and spent several years working on political campaigns. He earned his master's degree in comparative politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2015 and his bachelor's degree in political science from Villanova University in 2012.
