Biography

From Assistant Professor to Acting Dean, Professor Blackburn has served Owen in many capacities over the years, but his expertise in time-based competition remains constant.    

Awards & Accomplishments

Joe was a Founder’s Medalist at Vanderbilt, a Fellow in the Production and Operations Management Society, and winner of the Outstanding Professor award in the Executive MBA program. He also won the Jo Van Nunen Prize for Pioneering Research in Sustainable Supply Chains from the Closed-Loop Supply Chain Research Society in 2016.

Leadership

Joe has sat on the editorial boards of Production and Operations Management Journal, and the Journal of Operations Management.  He also served as President and member of the Executive Board of the Production and Operations Management Society.

Publications

Joe has been published in numerous journals, including Decision Sciences, Production and Operations Management, Management Science, and the Journal of Operations Management. He is also the author of Time-Based Competition: The Next Battleground in American Manufacturing.

On A Personal Note...

Joe began his career working as a Chemical Engineer for Eastman Kodak.
