Research Summary

Dr. Jonathan Cylus is a Research Fellow at the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and LSE Health. His main research is on health care systems, focusing primarily on health financing policy, health economics and health system performance. He has worked on these topics in a number of countries, including Cyprus, Liberia, Malta, Mexico, Moldova, Slovenia and the United States, as well as with the European Commission, OECD and WHO. Jon is also interested in the role of social policies and other social determinants on health.

Prior to joining the Observatory, Jon was an economist at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in the United States where he worked on health care expenditure projections, hospital productivity, and health care expenditure estimates by age and gender. Jon obtained a BA from Johns Hopkins University and an MSc and PhD from the London School of Economics.
