Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy

Jonathan A. Chu is an Assistant Professor in International Affairs and Presidential Young Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. He researches public and elite opinion on global affairs, focusing on how identity, norms, and values shape these opinions in areas of war, democracy, and great power politics. His work appears in peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Experimental Political Science, Journal of Politics, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and World Politics, and has earned grant funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation and other public and private institutions.

Outside the academy, Jon has consulted for a variety of public and private agencies in areas of international affairs and survey methodology. He is also a co-founder of CivicPulse, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering local governments through enabling high quality polling of their leaders.

Jon completed his B.A. in Political Science at UC San Diego and Ph.D. also in political science from Stanford University, where he was an NSF Graduate Fellow. His postdoctoral work was completed at Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania. Work aside, you can find him on the constant look out for good places to hike, eat, and listen to classical music.
