Biography

John Barton is a Teaching Fellow at King's Business School. John has 30 years of experience in international general management and sales & marketing in high technology companies. He specializes in foreign market entry strategy development, start-up and transformational management in B2B and B2C markets for multinational enterprises, as well as for small high-growth companies.

He has held senior executive and CEO roles with international telecom and ICT providers in Europe, USA and China and has served on the boards of companies in many European countries.

John has worked for a number of multinational companies including AT&T/BellSouth, KPN Qwest and Hewlett Packard, where he has operated at VP level and above in international roles in mobile and fixed data services, software development and systems integration. He has lived in several countries in Europe and also in the USA.

John has most recently been involved with Pactera Technology International Inc. China’s largest IT outsourcing provider, where he was General Manager for Europe. He was also the managing partner of a consulting business that specialises in foreign market entry strategy development and implementation.

John was a Senior Teaching Fellow at Leeds University Business School from 2013 to 2018 in subjects including International Business Theory, Global Marketing, Foreign Market Entry Strategy, European Business, Chinese Business, eBusiness and International Economic Environment.

He received the Dean’s award for Teaching Excellence from LUBS in 2016 and is an HEA Fellow.
