Bentley University

An economic geographer, Professor Deichmann earned his PhD from the University at Buffalo (1999). His research focuses upon the spatial aspects of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and International Tourism, with special emphasis on Transition Economies of Central and Eastern Europe. He is editor and co-author of the book entitled Foreign Direct Investment in the Successor States of Yugoslavia: A Comparative Economic Geography 25 Years Later (Springer, 2021). He has also published in peer-reviewed journals such as Comparative Economic Studies, Eastern European Economics, Journal of Business and Economic Studies, Applied Economics, Journal of Human Development and Capabilities, and Journal of Tourism Studies. He teaches Globalization, Global Regions, Comparative Government, Contemporary Europe, Global Transportation and Tourism, and short-term study tours to Central Europe (including Prague, Berlin, Warsaw, Zagreb, and Sarajevo).
