McCombs School of Business
Dr. Riekenberg is a lecturer in the Management Department in the Red McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. During the long semesters, she coordinates and teaches BA 324 – Business Communications – to BBA students. JJ also serves as the faculty advisor for the Texas Business Foundations Certificate Program (BFP). As a Management professor, she works with Dr. Kristie Loescher to plan and execute MAN 320f for the Texas Business Foundations Summer Institute program. Dr. Riekenberg also coordinates Mock Interviews for the summer participants.
A communications undergraduate major, Dr. Riekenberg worked in public television for ten years. Then, along with her spouse, she owned and managed a film and video production company for fourteen years. She and three other UT-Austin “biz-com” instructors are the editors of the first and second editions of their textbook, Communication Matters: Write, Speak, Succeed. She holds a Masters of Education degree in Counselor Education/Higher Education Track and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Learning, Cognition, Motivation, & Instruction). Her interests include teachers and teaching effectiveness in higher education, and working with students to develop their communication skills. Her students selected her for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2013 McCombs Faculty Honor Roll. She was awarded the Eyes of Texas Excellence Award for teaching for the Spring 2010 semester.
