Jeffrey Hertzberg, M.D., M.S. is Assistant Professor at the Carlson School of Management''s Medical Industry Leadership Institute, and president of Medformatics, Inc., a Minneapolisbased consulting firm specializing in the design, implementation, and selection of health care information systems.  Dr. Hertzberg was a boardcertified physician in general internal medicine practice before completing a National Library of Medicine research fellowship and graduate degree in Medical Informatics at the University of Minnesota, where he researched factors leading to successful implementation of information technology among physicians.  Since 1994, he has worked largely in the consulting arena, developing disease state management programs, physician profiling systems, and electronic health records for Fortune 500 companies like Pfizer Health Solutions, Pharmacia/Upjohn, AstraZeneca, and United Healthcare, as well as local and regional players like Minnesota Healthcare Network, Integrail Inc., and Focused Health Solutions in Chicago.  Dr. Hertzberg has taught medical informatics and other medical topics at the University of Minnesota Institute for Health Informatics and at the Carlson School of Management.   He is a frequent author on topics related to the medical computer sciences, and has lectured at Harvard Medical School, the Mayo Clinic, and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. 

Dr. Hertzberg earned his medical degree at New York University, and his MS degree in Health Informatics at the University of Minnesota.  He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic, where he also completed a research fellowship in Health Informatics.
