Alliance Manchester Business School
Javed is a Professor of Accounting at the Alliance Manchester Business School, and the school Director for post-graduate taught (PGT) programmes, responsible for a portfolio of fifteen specialised MSc programmes. Javed joined Manchester Business School as a Lecturer in 2008, and was promoted to a Senior Lecturer in the same school in 2015. His primary fields of research are auditing, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting, especially in the context of developing economies. His research has been funded by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), the UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC) and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, UK. Professor Siddiqui worked with international development agencies, such as the World Bank and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Big Four accountancy firms, as well as national level professional accountancy bodies. Javed's work has consistently appeared in reputed accounting and management journals, including the Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, the British Accounting Review, and the Journal of Business Ethics. His work has been cited by important professional and policy making bodies, such as the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK. Professor Siddiqui has advised and given evidence to the UK House of Commons select committee on Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on auditing, governance and regulatory issues. He has supervised a number of PhD students, and works as an ad-hoc reviewer for internationally reputed journals. Javed was the Programme Director for MSc Accounting and Finance and MSc Accounting programmes, and is an undergraduate awards external examiner at the University of Southampton. Prof Siddiqui is an external member of the Financial Reporting and Corporate Governance Committee of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. He also sits in the academic advisory panel for the UK Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

Javed is currently involved in a number of research projects, including-
- Corporate political connections, sustainability and CSR disclosures
- Human rights reporting in global supply chains
- Development of the auditing profession in emerging economies
- Corporate governance developments and the role of the state
- The role of accounting in sports
Javed currently supervises and welcomes PhD students in the following areas:
- A qualitative analysis of CSR activities in developing countries
- Corporate governance, accountability and the state
- Regulation of public accountancy profession
