ESADE Business School

Jaume Villanueva is Assistant Professor with the Management & Global Business department at Rutgers Business School, where he teaches entrepreneurship. His research focuses on the processes that underlie the creation and development of new ventures. In his work, he examines the role that interpersonal factors such as power, social influence or persuasive communication play in key entrepreneurial activities, especially in the identification of opportunities and the mobilization of external resources. Professor Villanueva has published his research in leading entrepreneurship journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing, the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.

Prior to academia, Professor Villanueva worked in international business development for a number of multinational firms in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, as well as an entrepreneur. He co-founded Fluent Systems, a precision agriculture startup based in Madison, Wisconsin, and more recently ZAGA, an international network of Zygomatic dental implant clinics based in Barcelona, Spain.

Professor Villanueva holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of Science in international economics from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
