Biography
Boston University
Jashin Lin is a visionary leader whose journey began at Boston University, where she discovered the transformative power of community and extracurricular engagement. During her time at BU, she cherished the sense of belonging and shared purpose that came from collaborating with her bandmates to create beautiful music and addressing emergencies as a resident assistant. These experiences taught her that true learning goes beyond textbooks and that meaningful personal growth happens when you actively shape your environment.
Noticing that many of her fellow Chinese international students tended to stay within their academic comfort zones, she felt a strong desire to challenge this pattern and promote representation among her peers. With a belief that representation matters, she founded Project X, later rebranded as Growbie, to inspire Chinese students at BU and beyond. She envisioned a future where Chinese students embraced new experiences, assumed leadership roles on campus, and achieved their dream job offers, all with her mentorship and guidance.
Witnessing the transformation of her mentees and the ripple effect of inspiration as they, too, broke down barriers and pursued their best selves, she found immeasurable satisfaction. Her dedication to "paying it forward" and uplifting underrepresented communities fueled her mission. In addition to her work with Growbie, she wears many hats as an adjunct lecturer at Boston University Questrom School of Business, a Visible Hands Founder Fellow, and a MassChallenge Early Stage Social Impact founder.
Her commitment to fostering positive change extends to her role as the Social Chair of Harvard Business School's Class of 2023 Section C, where she continues to advocate for inclusivity and community building. Beyond academia and entrepreneurship, she has made a significant impact as an early employee at TikTok, a platform that brings joy and creativity to billions of users worldwide.
She is a testament to the power of determination, mentorship, and the belief that anyone can become a leader, regardless of their background or circumstances. Through her multifaceted roles and initiatives, she has become a driving force for change, inspiring others to break free from their comfort zones and embrace the transformative journey of self-discovery and growth.
