Background

Janice Fergusson is a lecturer in the School of Accounting and serves as coordinator of the introductory financial and managerial accounting classes. Her areas of academic interest include financial and managerial accounting, auditing and governmental and nonprofit accounting.

Fergusson received her B.A. in Business Administration from Columbia College and her Master of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina. She is a certified public accountant, a member of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbia Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and was elected to serve as president for the 2009-2010 year.

Prior to joining the faculty at the University of South Carolina, she served as a full-time faculty member at Columbia College.  She had a successful career in banking for more than 25 years before pursuing a second career in academia.

Fergusson has been recognized for her excellence in teaching and has been invited to participate in numerous forums for teaching excellence at a national level.
