Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education

Jan-Peter is the Global Industry Head for Risk Management, Energy and Commodities at Citi.

Jan-Peter has been with Citi since 2011 in his current role as the Global Industry Head for Risk Management, Energy and Commodities. In that role he has responsibility for Citi’s credit portfolio in those industries, across large corporate clients. Jan-Peter’s team comprises of approximately 15 risk managers in London and Houston. In addition to managing that team he has approval authority for specific large transactions in energy and commodities globally. Jan-Peter also manages the commodity trading unit’s independent market risk team.

In addition to the Risk role, he is one of four co-chairs of the Institutional Group’s New Product Approval Committee. That Committee evaluates and approves all new complex and structured transactions and new products, including new derivative instruments and new corporate electronic banking services, across the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

Prior to 2011 Jan-Peter worked for 3i, a British private equity firm, as portfolio risk manager. From 2001 through 2007 he set up and ran the risk management function for BP’s internal supply and trading division, one of the world’s largest energy trading businesses; he covered market, credit and operational risk. Prior to BP he worked in credit and market risk for RBS and Barclays in London, ran a small trading and funding business, and developed arbitrage trading software and algorithms for Barclays in New York. Jan-Peter started his career at Citi in New York in Global Electronic Markets where we developed the first live FX trading platform for corporate clients.

Jan-Peter has an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a MSc in mechanical engineering from Delft University of Technology.
