Biography
James Devlin is Professor of Financial Services at Nottingham Business School and Founding Director of the Centre for Finance, Technology and Society which is focused on Financial Technology, Open Finance and the attendant implications for Business and Society. James has been involved in research in the areas of consumer decision making, marketing and policy issues in financial services since joining the University of Nottingham in 1991. Prior to this, James worked in the financial services industry for Lloyds Private Banking. James completed his PhD in 1996 and has subsequently been lead researcher/principle investigator on a number of projects funded by bodies including the Treasury, Economic and Social Research Council, Financial Services Authority and Financial Services Research Forum and has also been involved as co-researcher in projects funded by the Office of Fair Trading, TSB and others. James has published over 60 journal articles and conference papers covering policy issues in financial services and beyond, as well as marketing financial services and other marketing issues. James has also worked at what is now Cass Business School (1998-2000) and the University of Nottingham (1991-1997 and 2003 -2019) and University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus in Kuala Lumpur (2000-2003). James is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has also served on the Board of Governors of the London Institute of Banking and Finance. In his spare time, James is a keen cyclist. James is a qualified Level 1 Rugby Union Coach and Entry Level RFU referee .
