American Association for Physician Leadership

Dr. Jack Gilbert is a noted expert in organizational and personal ethics, leadership, and large-scale change. His is a Clinical Professor in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU). He is also a Senior Lincoln Fellow in Applied Ethics and Adjunct Faculty in Mayo Clinic’s Alix School of Medicine. He has a track record of innovation including as founding director of the novel Executive Fellowship in Innovation Leadership program at ASU.

His career includes work as a management consultant with clients in many fields including financial services, health care, information technology, manufacturing, and retail. Early in his career, he was an administrative department head in a 600 hospital.

Jack is the author of Strengthening Ethical Wisdom, The Heart of Leadership coauthored with Barbara Balik, Gilbert’s Fables, and Productivity Management, winner of the HIMSS Book of the Year Award. He was also granted the American College of Healthcare Executives’ Service Award.

He earned his doctorate from The George Washington University in Washington, DC where his dissertation focused on the role of ethics in decision-making for senior executives.
