Ian McDonald is a Research Analyst and co-team leader of the Financials Sector Research Team at Janus Henderson Investors. Before joining Janus in 2016, Mr. McDonald was a managing director at Hilltop Park Associates, where he provided investment guidance in managing the Hilltop Park Opportunity Fund. Prior to that, he co-founded Tourmalet Advisors, a multi-asset hedge fund, serving as president and director of research and overseeing a team of analysts. Previously, Mr. McDonald was a principal at Pequot Capital Management, where he covered financial services, specialty finance, education services, multi-industry holding companies and other sectors across global markets for the firm’s flagship Partner’s Fund. Earlier in his career, he was an analyst at Fox-Pitt, Kelton.

Mr. McDonald received his bachelor of arts degree in marine transportation from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and his MBA in finance and accounting from New York University. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School. Mr. McDonald holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 21 years of financial industry experience.
