Hyung Joon Kim, Ph. D., Senior Staff Scientist. Hyung Joon Kim was trained as a neuroscientist in Rusty Gage’s lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies after he earned a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of California at Irvine. His prior position was faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He has studied the critical role of stem cells in the brain and vasculature by manipulating hiPSCs in microfluidics. His research focuses on understanding the alterations in cellular dynamics from healthy to pathological conditions by integrating stem cell biology, live-cell imaging, and machine learning.
