Howard L. Sorkin started his career in financial services in 1972 as an independent insurance broker, became a registered stockbroker, and in 1974, joined the Mid-America Commodity Exchange. In 1977, he joined the Chicago Board of Trade as an Associate Member in the emerging financial futures market, where he traded long-term treasury bonds and the yield curve. Mr. Sorkin also has extensive background in metals where he traded and brokered for several years, as well as agricultural markets where he was in the soybean oil pit and the corn pit as a spreader. In addition, he was active and instrumental in launching, trading, and brokering in the stock index markets as well as options on bonds.

Howard was active on many committees at the Exchange including new products, education and several pit/administrative committees.

As a member of the education committee he frequently lectured on risk management, the markets and new products as he represented the Exchange at industry and educational meetings.

Mr. Sorkin also has actively traded in the stock index markets and was a professional equity trader at the Chicago Stock Exchange.

Mr. Sorkin is an active CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and is a registered principal with Voya Financial Advisors, Inc., and has an office in Park Ridge IL. He was recently featured in "Kiplinger's Personal Finance" under "Who's who in Financial Planning in Illinois."

Mr. Sorkin has participated in numerous educational programs and is a speaker on investments and retirement planning. Over the past 20 years, he has lectured across the country to thousands of students, educators, and investors, as well as professional traders and investment advisors about financial markets, investments and retirement planning at the college level and beyond.

He also has taught numerous courses about financial markets for the Chicago Board of Trade and the Commodities Learning Institute. In conjunction with Exchange Analytics, he developed and taught a course in Ethics for Commodity Traders at the Winnipeg Canada Commodity Exchange in 2003.

Since 1996, Mr. Sorkin has lectured for financial planning certificate programs at several universities and since 2001 at DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois, on life insurance planning, employee benefits, long-term care insurance, annuities, financial planning, retirement planning and investments.

Mr. Sorkin is the author of many articles on annuities and matters of financial interest to seniors. In addition, he is the co-author of a book of "Cliffs Notes Planning Your Retirement," which was published in January 2000.
