Biography
He graduated from West Point, where he was a member of the Division-1A Army football team. Following graduation, he was commissioned in the US Army as an Aviation Officer in the UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter. He served with distinction in various command and staff positions for over 25 years with his most recent operational assignment being as a Battalion Commander in the historic 82nd Airborne Division, earning the rank of Colonel before retiring in 2021. He has led soldiers in combat. Among his military decorations are the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Master Aviator badge, Parachutist badge, and the Air Assault badge. He has an MS in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Masters in Operational Art and Science from the Air Command and Staff College. Dr. Gibson earned his Doctorate of Business Administration from Harvard University in Technology and Operations Management. Until July of 2021, Colonel Gibson served as an Academy Professor in the Systems Engineering Department at the United States Military Academy. He also established and directed the Systems Decisions and Analysis Center as well as directed the department’s core engineering sequence and engaged in strategic outreach as a Fellow at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
Professor Gibson's research and consulting activities have been in the areas of technology integrations, operational effectiveness, leadership, leader development, human capital development, change management, and leading teams through crisis. He currently lives in Lexington, Massachusetts with his wife Nicole and two daughters

Babson Olin Graduate School of Business
Hise is a Master-rated Army Aviator in the UH60 Blackhawk helicopter, and has served on active duty for over 20 years with domestic and international assignments. He flew Blackhawk helicopters and led teams in Korea, Germany, Afghanistan, and Iraq. His previous assignments were as a Company Commander in Germany and Iraq, a Battalion Operations Officer and Deputy Commander of a 750 person aviation task force in Germany and Afghanistan, and as a Battalion Commander of a 650-person/35-aircraft unit in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC supporting of 16,000 Paratroopers.
Hise received a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Masters in Operations and a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) in Technology and Operations Management (TOM) from Harvard Business School. His expertise is the intersection of operational effectiveness and human capital development.
He has also work with midsize and large transportation and distribution organizations, retailers, finance, and tech-startups on operational issues and pathways to better leverage their human capital in more effective ways.
