Hesham Saleh is Professor of Practice (Rhinology) at the Imperial College and Consultant Rhinologist/Facial Plastic Surgeon at Charing Cross and the Royal Brompton Hospitals.

Professor Saleh trained in at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital in London. He was also a Fellow of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery at Amsterdam Medical Centre, the Netherlands. He obtained his FRCS (ENT) in 1995 and FRCS (ORL-HNS) in 1999. He also obtained Board-Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from the International and European Boards. He joined the Imperial College as consultant in 2001 to lead the rhinology/nasal reconstructive service at Charing Cross Hospital and run a specialist combined medical/surgical Nose Clinic with Professor Stephen Durham at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

The fundamental aims of his research are to improve outcomes for patients with nasal conditions including rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, anterior skull base pathology and nasal deformities. He is currently a principal investigator in a number of multicentre trials studying management of chronic rhinosinusitis, olfactory damage and eradication of multidrug resistant bacteria affecting the sinuses. He continues his studies on optimising outcomes in the management of spontaneous CSF rhinorrhoea and nasal reconstructive surgery/septorhinoplasty.

Professor Saleh is the President of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) and Past President of the British Society of Facial Plastic Surgery (BSFPS). He is also the Past President of the section of Laryngology & Rhinology in the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) and council member of the British Rhinological Society (BRS). He has given the eponymous Eugene Tardy’s lecture on Facial Plastic Surgery and Humanities at the University of Illinois. He has been honoured with the Claus D. Walter Award for Academic Excellence in the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and W. J. Harrison Award in the Royal Society of Medicine for the greatest contribution towards advancement of knowledge in the section of Laryngology and Rhinology.
