Heinz-Peter Elstrodt has been on London Business School’s faculty since January 2016. He is a leading thinker and practitioner in the field of family business. His other areas of expertise include family business governance, finance and strategy and leadership development. Until late 2015, Heinz-Peter was a director of McKinsey & Company, where he worked in Germany, the US and São Paulo. He is internationally recognised for being responsible for McKinsey’s family business and Latin American practices. His published work includes ‘The five attributes of enduring family businesses’, ‘A succession memo to a family-business founder’, and ‘Building a house that lasts: a framework to guide the succession from few owners to many’. He has also written ‘The family business factor in emerging markets’ and ‘Keeping the family in business’. All of these papers were published in McKinsey Quarterly. Heinz-Peter is the chairman and board member of different privately and publicly held companies, and an advisor to leading family businesses.
