Maastricht School of Management
Harald Sander is Professor of Economics at Maastricht School of Management and a Professor of Economics and International Economics at TH Köln University of Technology, Arts and Sciences, where he also holds a Jean Monnet Chair of the European Union. He has been a visiting researcher at the International Monetary Fund, the Centre for Contemporary Europe Research Centre at the University of Melbourne, and the Global Business Institute at New York University. His main research areas are European banking market integration, economic integration, trade policy, and the macroeconomics of financial crises. Prof. Sander has published extensively in leading international journals like the Journal of International Money and Finance, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Financial Stability, and Applied Economics. He is the author and editor of several books, including a volume on “World Trade after the Uruguay Round” published by Routledge, and a report on “European Retail Banking Market Integration” for the Centre of European Policy Studies. As an occasional blogger, he contributes commentaries to outlets like the LSE-EUROPP Blog and The Conversation. Currently he is working on a major research project on the “Geography of Global Banking” with Stefanie Kleimeier of Maastricht University which has been co-funded by the German DFG and the Dutch NWO.
