Biography

SDA Bocconi School of Management

Gimede Gigante is Lecturer of Management of Financial Markets and Institution of the Department of Finance at Università Bocconi and at SDA Bocconi.

He is Program Director of “Principles of International Finance” at the Bachelor in International Economics and Finance (BIEF), he teaches Financial System at the Master of Science in Management (CLEAM), Investment Banking at the Master of Science in Finance (CLEFIN) and International Finance at the Master of Science in International Management (IM). He also teaches Corporate Finance at the Bocconi China Master in International Management - Double Degree Program in Shanghai in joint venture with Fudan University. He is also the Deputy of the Director of the Master of Science in Finance (Clefin) and the Deputy of the Director of the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance (Clef).

He carried out post-doctoral research activities first at the Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions at New York University (Stern-NYU) and then at the Faculty of Economics of Columbia Business School. He is author of national and international articles and publications on Banking and Finance topics with several editors like Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Banking and Financial Institutions, Routledge, Bocconi University Press (BUP) ed Egea.

He has been member of the Board of Directors of ANSPC- National Association for the Study of Problems on Credit, corresponding academic of TMA-Turnoround Management Association Chapter of New York, member of the editorial board of the scientific journals International Journal of Economics, Finance and Management Sciences and Accounting and Finance Research. From 2016 to 2018 he was Economic Advisor to the Presidency of the Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament for matters related to banks and financial intermediaries. Since 2020 he is Advisory Council Member of Harvard Business Review and since 2021 member of the national board of directors of Assofintech Association.

Chartered accountant and Auditor since 2011, he is a member of the Banking Commission and registered in the Register of Technical Consultants (civil sector) of the Court of Milan. He has held various positions as consultant of banks and he is supervisory board member of financial intermediaries and other companies (including for successful startups such as Casavo SPA). He has worked for leading financial and industrial groups (Unicredit Group, Eni Group) and he is currently an independent board director of a listed Italian bank.

He graduated in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan and obtained a PhD in Banking & Finance and a Master in International Teaching Program from SDA Bocconi in Milan. He is married with two daughters.
