Biography
Said Business School
Gerard is a Partner at NormannPartners, a premium international strategy consulting company focused on scenario-based strategy work.
He also teaches strategy and scenarios on open and custom programmes at Saïd Business School.
At NormannPartners, Gerard works on scenarios and business innovation projects for clients in higher education, high tech, media, finance, development banking, energy, car manufacturing, mining, climate change and international development aid.
Before joining NormannPartners in 2011, Gerard worked for Morgan Stanley as Vice President in the European Strategy Group. He advised executives and clients on developing their understanding of risk and opportunities and helping them with strategic direction setting. He also spent some years in Morgan Stanley Investment Management, directing the strategic development and operations of marketing infrastructure for the EMEA region.
From 1990 until 2004, Gerard worked for Shell in a variety of roles, including assignments in the global scenarios team, exploration and production, Shell trading, information technology and business consultancy. He spent the last five years with Shell as the Scenario Manager in the scenario team in London.
Gerard holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) UK Level 3 Certificate in Investment Management. He has an MBA degree from London Business School (Executive Programme) and an MSc in Computer Science with Operational Research from the VU University Amsterdam.
Teaching
At Saïd Business School, Gerard teaches on open and executive education programmes. He has also featured many times as a guest speaker on scenario planning at other institutions, including Imperial College London, London Business School, Cambridge University and Gothenburg University.
Executive education clients have included the Royal Mail Group, Booz Consulting, the Major Projects Association, Aviva, BMW, Standard Chartered, EY, United Arab Emirates (UAE) AFAQ, the Oxford CEO Programme, the UAE Prime Minister’s Office Future Foresight Network, ETF, UAE Young Leaders and Bevan Brittan.
