Profile
Gary Swartz is currently an adjunct faculty member at GIBS. Previous to this he was employed at the School of Accountancy at the University of the Witwatersrand for 13 years as an Associate Professor in the Management Accounting and Finance division. Gary was the division head of the Management Accounting and Finance division, and also headed the Bachelor of Accounting Science program, which is the CTA equivalent program at WITS. He has a masters degree in Accounting and is also a qualified Chartered Accountant in South Africa (CA(SA)). He has vast experience in teaching Management Accounting and Finance at an undergraduate and post graduate level. Gary is also integrally involved in the Chartered Accountant profession, participating on a number of committees for the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Prior to working at WITS, Gary spent 7 years at Deloitte and Touche, including two international secondments to Los Angeles and Miami.
Gary was also an audit partner in Xabiso Chartered Accounts from 2008 to 2012. His consulting activities range from corporate training, to various forms of valuations. He has a particular interest in sustainability and related fields.

I was awarded the KPMG Tom Grieve Leadership Award in 2013 which recognises leadership and community upliftment.
SAAA international conference 2013L Awarded prizes for the best paper in the Financial Reporting subject area, as well as the best paper of the conference.
