Biography

Dr Gareth Hughes is a Specialty Trainee at the University Hospital of South Manchester and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester.  He graduated with a bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery degree from the University of Manchester in 2007.  He has undertaken further postgraduate studies in workplace based postgraduate medical education and health care ethics and law.  Dr Hughes is currently undertaking a training rotation in the North West with dual training in Intensive Care and Respiratory Medicine.  He has a particular interest in the management of interstitial lung disease, acute respiratory distress syndrome, difficult weaning and long-term ventilation. 

Dr Hughes has a keen interest in both undergraduate and postgraduate education with experience of representing trainees at both local and national level.  He is currently a trainee member of the education and training committee, as well as the specialty trainee advisory group of the British Thoracic Society.
