Francine Espinoza Petersen is Associate Professor of Marketing at ESMT (Germany) and is currently a Visiting Professor at Columbia University (USA).

Francine is a researcher in consumer psychology and behavior. Her research focuses on consumer emotions, luxury consumption, and situations that enhance consumers’ well-being. Given that marketers often underestimate the impact of emotional experiences, her research seeks to better understand these processes and help design marketing communications that are both more effective and more respectful of consumer welfare.

Her research has been published in leading international journals, was presented at renowned marketing conferences, and was featured in various news outlets. She teaches Consumer Behavior, Branding, and Luxury Marketing in MBA, Executive MBA and Executive Education programs. She received her PhD from the University of Maryland, USA and her Master's degree from UFRGS, Brazil. Francine has academic and consulting experience in Brazil, USA, France and Germany.
