IE Business School
Fernando advises on partnership structures, partner remuneration systems and succession planning. Prior to his joining KermaPartners, as an expert on inward investment and project finance, he has helped some of the largest multinational corporations from Asia, Europe and North and South America to establish their presence and develop their businesses in Venezuela.
Fernando is a prominent member of the global legal profession, having had a long association with the International Bar Association where he held a number of key offices including President (2009-2010),
He has also led the global advancement of lawyers by helping to set up the Latin American & Caribbean Forum for this organization. He has been Chairman, member of the Board of Directors, and member of the Executive Committee of Lex Mundi, and Member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for International and Comparative Law.
He earned his Law Degree Iberoamericana University in Mexico City in 1972, and Universidad de los Andes, Venezuela in 1996 and holds a Diplome d’ Estudes Supérieures from Paris University.
Fernando has received many national and international awards throughout his career. In 2010, he was awarded the Distinction in International Law and Affairs Award by the New York State Bar International Section. More recently he received the Life Achievement Award Trophy from the Latin Lawyer and Chambers and Partners honoured him with the Chambers Latin America Award for Excellence 2011, for distinguished labour on behalf of the legal profession in Latin America.
