Biography

Dr. Fei Chen received his BSc and MPhil degrees in Electronic Engineering, Nanjing University, and PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2005. He continued his research as post-doctor/research assistant professor in University of Texas at Dallas and The University of Hong Kong, and moved to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in 2014. Dr. Chen is now a full professor in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, SUSTech. Dr. Chen’s research interests include speech communication and assistive hearing technology, brain-computer interface, and biomedical signal processing.

Dr. Chen is a senior member of IEEE, and has published over 100 journal papers and over 80 peer-reviewed conference papers. He received the Martin Black Prize for the best paper published in the journal Physiological Measurement in 2020, the best presentation award in the 9th Asia Pacific Conference of Speech, Language and Hearing, and 2011 National Organization for Hearing Research Foundation Research Awards in States. He is now serving as associate editor of , and , and editorial members of and . He is a Distinguished Lecturer (2022-2023) of Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA). He worked as Leading Guest Editor for 2017 special issue of “Speech perception of Chinese-speaking cochlear implantees” in International Journal of Audiology and Leading Guest Editor for 2017 special issue of “Advanced signal processing and modeling for neuroengineering” in Biomedical Engineering Online.
