Rotterdam School of Management
Prof. Dr. Fabian Sting holds the Chair of Supply Chain Management – Strategy and Innovation at University of Cologne, Germany (see www.scmsi.uni-koeln.de/ ). He is also Associate Professor of Operations Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (part-time). His research and teaching interests are in the areas of Operations and Technology Strategy, Supply Chain Management, and Operations Management. His work revolves around the question of how operational and innovating systems can be designed to provide companies with a competitive advantage in complex and uncertain environments. Specific topics include:
- Innovation and flexibility in complex production systems
- Collaboration in operational and innovating systems
- Human behavior in operational and innovating processes
- Strategy deployment and manufacturing management
This research has been published or is forthcoming in leading academic journals such as Management Science, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, as well as in practitioner journals such as Harvard Business Review, and MIT Sloan Management Review.
He teaches courses on undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. For his courses "Operations Management" and "Primaire Processen" Fabian Sting received multiple teaching awards.
Collaborating with the business schools IESE (Spain), INSEAD (France) and WHU (Germany), he serves as Academic Director of the Industrial Excellence Award in Europe
Before joining RSM Fabian Sting was Postdoctoral Research Fellow at INSEAD and visiting scholar at Northwestern University. He holds a Doctorate from WHU and graduate degrees in Management Science (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt) and Applied Mathematics (FU Hagen).
