Eve J. Brown joined BU Law in July 2015 as director of the new Entrepreneurship & Intellectual Property Law Clinic. Brown’s primary research interests are intellectual property and entrepreneurship law, with a focus on innovation law, IP strategy, and the nexus between law and business. Brown is also a leader in interdisciplinary and experiential education.

Prior to her appointment at BU, Brown was the director of the Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship Clinic at Suffolk University Law School, and taught courses in Intellectual Property Strategy and Entrepreneurship Law at both Suffolk University and Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. From 2007 to 2012, Brown was a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Ethics at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, in both the undergraduate and MBA programs. While at Indiana University, she was awarded the Trustees Teaching Award and the Innovative Teaching Award, and was named Kappa Alpha Theta Outstanding Professor and Student Choice Award Nominee.

Brown frequently leads workshops on intellectual property and entrepreneurship related topics to community and educational organizations, and has guest lectured at Clark University, Middlesex Community College, the Cambridge Together Festival, Somerville’s Artisan’s Asylum, the Merrimack Valley Sandbox, and the Indianapolis Arts Council. She has served as president of the Tri-State Academy of Legal Studies in Business, and is currently a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Law and Society Association, the International Society for Scholarship on Teaching and Learning, and the Association for Law, Culture & the Humanities.

Prior to teaching, Brown practiced as an attorney for the San Diego office of Ross, Dixon & Bell, where her pro bono work was honored with a Business Volunteers for the Arts award. She has also worked for the Affirmative Civil Enforcement Unit of the United States’ Attorney’s Office and as an extern for the Honorable Frank C. Damrell of the United States District Court in Sacramento, California. She received her JD from the University of California Davis School of Law, where she was senior articles editor for the UC Davis Law Review, and her BA from Skidmore College.

She is currently licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, California, and the federal districts of Massachusetts and Central and Southern California.

Brown is the co-author of the book IP Strategy: Complete Intellectual Property Planning, Access, and Protection, published by Thomson-West.
